Zelda: Phantom Hourglass

I haven't played Legend of Zelda in the longest and this was one of the more difficult games I have played or I am just losing some of my videogame skills (agh!). Moving on LEGEND OF ZELDA: PHANTOM HOURGLASS is a Nintendo DS game that starts a new series with the well known Link, spunky Tetris (who spoiler alert is Zelda) and other familiar and new faces. I didn't like the fact that throughout the game you had to use both the touch screen and the normal screen (I kept on forgetting to use the little pen that comes with the DS to make Link move), but I loved how the storyline went and the comedic stunts Link pulled off. Poor Link, he gets dizzy and it's hilarious how he reacts @.@ I didn't however make it to the end of the game, darn those bosses, they so tedious!

Anyway, still got tons of stuff to do, including this blog and won't let ya down! Ciao!

Busy Busy Busy

Oh my goodness! I will admit that I totally forgot about the blogs because of mulitple reasons:
-work (which has taken up half of my time)
-school related homework (taking 6 classes with papers, presentations and all the shin-dig)
-gaming (I'm a gamer, it's somewhat obvious)
-NaNoWriMo (National Novel Writing Month which I'm on 40K)

Moving on, I remembered playing a little while ago Super Mario Smash Brawlers, but I think that is one of the most co-op player games I have played thus far. Choosing any character from Super Mario, Legend of Zelda, Poke'Mon and other popular games that most of the younger generation plays nowadays is very interesting especially when you use their special. The controls were a havoc to learn the first time when you're playing with experts on this game (I still keep on getting last place wah!). There isn't a storyline or anything like that, it's more like a short time game to figure out who is the King of the Arcade games in 3D formation. Love the graphics and cannot wait to see what else the creators of this game have in store.

Grand Fantasia

I found this game online and wanted to play it because I am big fan of RPGs (Role Playing Games). The closest game I can compare this game to is WoW (World of Warcraft) since you can choose between classes such as the warrior, hunter or mage (that has two categories that I cannot remember off the top of my head). You can make up to three characters, but can only play one at a time (gosh I hated when my warrior died! You lose XP (experience) points, which made me pissed!)  I wish the graphics were a little better and the computer I played on didn't lag so much, but hey I'm not going to complain, IT'S FREE 24/7/365! I wonder what my characters will look like once they reach the maximum level (level 71 is the maximum level)

IT'S THE SUPER DOG!

Based off the Disney film Bolt, I played the game for the Play Station 2 and oh my goodness, the game was one of the most difficult movie games I have dealt with. Playing as Bolt and Penny, but with a different storyline from the movie was interesting seeing how they were in their acting stage and Bolt obviously had all the super powers. My sister dared me to play the game because she got stuck on a level and I had to help her with it, I fail when it comes to hacking because it took me 9 times just to defeat that particular level. I did like the fact that when you do play a new game that it gives you a short tutorial of the controls and sometimes the villains in combat when they are defeated fall over the cliff. The graphics could have been slightly better, but then again if there's too much graphics on the game, the Play Station could react in a negative way. Overall, a challenge that I was ok with, did not love it, but I also did not hate it.

Two the Hearts

Following the first game, Kingdom Hearts II continues when Sora wakes up after a year of coma and the previous character you play as Roxas is a nobody who has dreams about him. I liked how there was a continuation of the story since the first Kingdom Hearts left off at a cliffhanger and those are one of the best yet worst things to happen to me! I noticed how the graphics in this game are a lot better than the first, though the first game had the better storyline and the challenging tactics of the second game are a little easier to control. Speaking of controls, they are the same exact like the first Kingdom Hearts so I was super happy about that. I did defeat this game twice and loved the fact that you did play as Riku for a certain time of the game to save Sora from the final boss (don't worry! Not planning to say what happens afterwards for those who do want to play it!). Overall, I did like the game, great music, great graphics, storyline is following up from where it last left off and would like to play more of the games from this series.

The opening for the Kingdom Heart II videogame, the song is by Utada Hikaru (this is one of the few most original songs I have heard Sanctuary.)

Ciao!

Incredible Blegh

Agh! I've been super busy that I almost forgot about keeping up with the blogs and to be honest, I only played about 10 minutes of the Incredibles before I had to take my sister to ballet class. I have never defeated the game, but playing it in that short amount of time is not enough to complete a level. This is one of those illusional long yet short games where if you don't complete a whole level, you need to begin all over again. From the previous times I played it I have always liked how the video game followed up with the movie storyline save for some of the additional missions that gave me a headache. This is one game I would leave for later when all the other games I play I am not in the mood for.

Kingdom Hearts

Like the title displays, I have recently played Kingdom Hearts which was one of the first Play Station 2 games that came out in 2003 and I was surprised at how good the game was. In a nutshell, the main story is about a boy named Sora (which honestly I though he was a she! xD) who is the chosen Keyblade wielder destined to keep the worlds of Disney safe from the evil Maleficant. I liked how the controls were after getting used to seeing a miniature menu with options and also your control to move Sora around. I wish they made it so you can play as the other characters, but I guess that wasn't meant to be. The graphics on the game were impressive though I was wondering "why do all these original characters have Mickey Mouse feet?" Actually to be honest, I played the second game before the first one so I found this one to be a little more difficult, but it was fun.

Overall, one game that does take time to defeat and handle the controls fairly well. Maybe next time I'll explain Kingdom Hearts II, until then CIAO!!!!

Fastest Blue Thing Alive

Obviously when I titled that, I was referring to Sonic the Hedgehog in some of his many games from Sonic Heroes to Sonic and the Black Knight and Sonic Genesis.

SONIC HEROES: Playing it on the Play Station 2, you were able to chose from 4 teams, Sonic (obviously), Chaotic, Dark and Rose. Most of the time I would switch between team Sonic and Dark since I was a huge fan of Sonic and Shadow, but to get the furthest in the game without dying so many times was team Rose led by Amy and how I wish she would give Sonic a break. I found this game to be challenging since you had to make the leader travel at blinding speeds, the power member take down enemies and your flight person fly and take out sky enemies when the moment calls for it. The only part that irritated me is the fact that you have to be careful near water or space otherwise, there goes your lives down the drain. Closest I can say this can be compared to is a modern, 3D arcade game with an interesting storyline.

SONIC AND THE BLACK KNIGHT: I enjoyed this game out of the three I played over the weekend the most, but that is my opinion, I'm kind of a big medieval buff (if you haven't seen some of the earlier games I have placed up) and it was for the Wii which made it more challenging. I liked how it was different than the other games that debut Sonic because when have you seen the blue hedgehog run around with a sword and battling the knights of Camelot to protect what is left of the somewhat ruined kingdom. There are also mutliplayer games where you can be Lancelott (Shadow the Hedgehog), Gawain (Knuckles the Encidina (spelt wrong I know!)) or Black Smith (Tails the Fox).

SONIC GENESIS: When I thought about this game I thought it was another new game, but boy was I wrong. Playing this on the Play Station 2 gives the arcade games that Sega originally developed when Sonic was introduced almost 19 years ago a slightly more difficult level. I'm not particularly a big fan of the arcade games at first, but once you get me to them, expect to not use the game console in another few hours. I would have liked the graphics to be slightly better, but hey for a game that was made in the 1990s, it got some pretty advance movements.

Out of the three games, which one would you go for? I already told you mine, but now it's your turn to comment below...CIAO! ^o^

Gotta Catch Them All

You know that one show everyone used to watch when they were kids called Poke'Mon? I actually stumbled on the original yellow version of the game where you get to have Pikachu, which was a plus considering how that was the trademark of the whole series to begin with. I was a huge fan of Poke'Mon until season 4 came out and then anything regarding it I turned away from.

MOVING BACK TOWARDS YELLOW VERSION...I found it funny how compared to the Sapphire version I played a while back how the graphics were almost the same in action, but of course with more advancements in games, the Sapphire had better graphics than the Yellow. The storyline was pretty good, though I had to admit I had a heck of a time trying to train my Poke'Mon to defeat the Gym Leaders then go to the Elites. I have no idea what would happen if they remade the game from the original gameboy console it was designed for...probably have more animation and probably lifelike graphics.

Overall, I do want to see how the other Poke'Mon games can be compared to one of the original ones that came out in the mid 1990's, but for now GOTTA CATCH THEM ALL!

Welcome to Wonderland

I have always been a fan of Alice in Wonderland because I have not seen another story that has the same concept as this one. When I heard about Tim Burton creating Alice in Wonderland I wanted to see it as soon as it came out in theatres. I did get to see it and I was so excited that when the video game came out, my sister and I played it from beginning to end with 110 percent effort.

Since the Alice in Wonderland game I played was for the Wii, I quickly got the hang of using the nunchuck and the control in unison, except for when you have to battle the Bandersnatch, it's better to have 2 players to defeat it. The graphics on the game were well put considering how most of the Wii games I played had slightly horrible visual effects save for the cutscenes. However, the storyline between the movie and the game contrasted and I found the game to be a little more dark and violent compared to its partner.
Image Detail
Nonetheless after playing the game nonstop for a good 7-9 hours, my sister and I found the ending swell and slightly unexpecting. Sorry, not going to give away spoilers but I would recommend trying to play it for a little bit alternating between characters such as Mallymkun the Door Mouse to McTwisp the White Rabbit. I was upset that you couldn't play Alice (tears running down my face wah!).

Other than those downfalls, it is an interesting game that gives challenges and timing skills a plus.

Caught by the Title

As humorous as the game sounds ORCS MUST DIE, it is a rather interesting game considering it had the tactics of an RPG (Role Playing Game) and a defense tower (stratetic) game. Though I only played it for a short amount of time since I had a ton of other things to do (homework most of all! xD), I got hooked onto it and wanted to play more of it. The artwork reminded me of something from WoW (World of Warcraft) and the story from what I have encountered made it seem like a child's game, though it is rated T for Teens because of the violence and blood. Overall, a quick fun game to play when your mind is out of it.

Enjoy the vid and see you later game lovers!

Let's Get the Heroes Rumbling!

Recently a friend bought a game called Marvel vs. Capcom 3 because we had too much time on our free hands between classes and the selection of games for multiplayers was somewhat nil to none. I will admit out of all my guy friends (they were the ones who decided to buy this), there is only one who is able to beat me and that is because he has more experience in the fighting games than I do.

Moving on, since it was for the Xbox (it seems like that is one of the consoles I play more on and I don't even own it), I needed to get use to playing with the buttons more separately from the PlayStation control buttons. My hand cramped after I got the hang of using the same few buttons several times in different orders to defeat the opponent. I liked the fact that there were female characters considering that Marvel and Capcom have a more male dominate storyline versus female storylines and the 3D graphics were lifelike. I loved the way the special ability was able to knock out the opponent with the push of a button, but if you're not careful, the opponent can retaliate.

Overall, not a game I would play hours on, just to let time fly in a short yet fun way.

Old but Still Strong

One of the older games that I remembered playing and recently played was Rayman. Oh my goodness, compared to the new Rayman games, the graphic quality stinks (since it was on a Play Station game), but the storyline was awesome. I always used the circle button to scare away the enemies and laugh when they fell into the water; apparently the creatures in the Rayman game do not know how to swim. It was simple at first, but it proved to be a challenge when you got closer to the end. Though I haven't defeated the game officially, the ending from what I saw was a splendid wrap up of the whole game.

The offical cover of the game...still love him, always a lazy, hilarious yet righteous hero.

Pac Man Fever

Like the title, I played the game called Pac Man Fever on the Play Station 2. Though it was released a few years ago and it wasn't such a big deal compared to other games that came out, I couldn't stop playing it. I also liked the fact that you could play it with other people and by yourself, so it is a multiplayer game. Since the game became popular in my house, my sister and I always fought over which character we wanted (I liked Reiko, she was awesome). However, some of the challenges frustrated me because the "computer players" always win and they get to the end of the game board first. It's like a mix of Pac-Man, Candy Land and arcade games combined into one unique experience.
Well, that's all for now! I'll see you later ciao!

A Virtual World

I guess this week is just computer gaming week, first with DA II (check out the previous blog for the intitials' meaning) and now with the Sims 3. To be honest, ever since the Sims came out, I've always wanted to have a game from them; I find it interesting how you can create any kind of character you want, buy or build a house and live "the dream life" through them. It was like playing the role of a Creator and not really having a care in the world.

Image Detail  Image Detail
I found the Sims 3 to have some nice graphics except when they came to low resolution (very low quality of how the images looked). With audio the Sims sound hilarious and I just adlib to what they say. I also found it useful when you want to make movies and take instant photos with just a keyboard button. I did find it a little confusing at first how to play the game without the characters aging so quickly (call me a noob I know) and getting rid of those bubbles that popped up whenever the Sims wanted to think of something.

Overall, I like the game because you can do anything you want in it and not get into any serious troubles unlike the real world. However, be warned, it can get really addicting and you can spending HOURS ON END playing it.

Overall I hope to see you soon and talk about more games from other consoles...I sound like a geek.

Within Dragon Terrain

Dragon Age II...the first computer game that I defeated in years and loved from the beginning to the end! ^O^
As a continuation from the Dragon Age series, I had to do a little research to see if the storylines were connected and discreetly they are. The graphics on the game was amazing along with the storyline of how a kingdom fell and you play as the character who becomes the Champion of Kirkwall. (Sorry, not going to give away the ending for those who are still playing it). The setup of how to play it was easy to understand since you could either use the mouse or the keyboard to move, set commands, battle and do other tasks. I have to thank my friend for letting me play it otherwise I would be at a lost for figuring out which game I wanted to play next.

WARNING: FOR THOSE WHO DO NOT LIKE GORE/ACTION/FANTASY ROLE PLAYING GAMES, DO NOT PLAY.

Here is a trailer for Dragon Age II:

(Though it is also for the Xbox, I do not own an Xbox and the game was expensive during the time I played it. TT.TT If I had the chance to play it on the Xbox, I would've commented on how different the game settings were.)
Other than that, see you next time! Ciao!

Battle of the Bands

Which one is better? Rock Band or Guitar Hero?

This is a typical question that most people answer with one or the other. In a sense, I played both of these games ever since they came out, but in reality, I don't own any because I'd be hooked on them and have to be pulled away from my game consoles. xD

To be fair, I picked GH2 and RB2, just to see the difference.

Image Detail       Image Detail
When I played Guitar Hero 2 on the Play Station 2, it had a sense of rock with some new songs that some I recognized and some I did not, but the experience to play it boggled my mind.  The song selection expanded from "Sweet Child O' Mine" by Guns N' Roses, "Heart Shaped Box" by Nirvana and other artists including My Chemical Romance, Iron Maiden and Atreyu. However, with all the graphics that were going on at the same time, I had a little difficulty trying to focus on the notes and hitting them on the right cue.

On the other hand, I played Rock Band 2 on the Xbox and it had a similar quality to Guitar Hero 2 on a more mellow sense. One advantage this game had over the other is that there were other instruments to play such as the bass, drums and vocals. The experience to play this game wasn't as much fun as Guitar Hero 2 because I was introduced to Guitar Hero 2 first. In this game, I did not do as well as I did with guitar because the songs were a little different like "Anyway You Want It" by Journey, "Enter Sandman" by Metallica and other songs by AC/DC, Foo Fighters and Billy Idol. The graphics on this game weren't so intense as Guitar Hero 2 and in this game I was better off with drums.

So which game do I like better?

It's a close call, but with more variety I would have to choose Rock Band 2.

Sorry Guitar Hero 2, I don't wanna sound mean! TT.TT

Introduction

Most people would assume that a young woman would be more interested in the latest trends of fashion, media and “feminine” things, however, I am more of a video game person and I am proud to say that. Go ahead and say your worst “that’s mature of you”, “video games are more for dudes”, “what do you know about video games?” I honestly won’t be bothered by that, it’s just a person’s opinion.
Moving on my name is Desiree Cordero, but for future references I’ll be known as Des C. I am 19 years old and have a passion for the arts as well as video games. I am not a fashion girl or someone who loves going to the beach or pool. I do however like reading, spending time with my family and friends, watching movies, talking and all those other activities most people do.
Overall, expect me to have quite a bit of video game names you may know and not know, but for now Ciao and see you next time! ^O^
